Choir I welcomes our youngest singers from ages 6-8 into a safe, high-energy learning environment. Through music, drama, dance, and light instrumentation, these young artists explore unison singing and vocal development with the support of their fellow choristers. Led by a superb teaching staff, singers will start to build their musical vocabulary and discover the many ways they can use their voices and musical expression. Through highly entertaining songs, these young performers discover a love of singing that they will cherish for a lifetime.
2024-2025 Season
Each 75-minute rehearsal will include vocal warm-ups, rhythmic exercises, movement, and dance. The focus will be learning songs and excellent, age-appropriate vocal pedagogy through games and movement. Exploration of various styles of music will be incorporated as well as music from around the world. The singers will get personal attention from the artistic director in small groups and the main goal is to bring the joy of music and singing to each rehearsal. Guests from the greater arts community will join the choir’s excellent staff to enrich each young singer’s experience.
